Per diem; variable start time. Must provide a minimum of three shift availability per 2-week pay period.
Major Responsibilities :
Drives ambulance using safe driving practices and performs neonate, infant, child, adult and geriatric patient care under supervision of Paramedic adhering to EMT field protocols.
Assists RN and / or paramedic with neonate, infant, child, adult and geriatric patient care in Emergency Room.
Assists with the operations of the Emergency Department / Ambulance Service as directed by Charge Nurse / Ambulance Manager.
Communicates pertinent information regarding patient, physician, personnel concerns to the Ambulance Manager.
Maintains cleanliness of equipment and vehicles.
Performs Public Relation activities as directed by Ambulance Manager.
Licensure, Registration and / or Certification Required :
National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (NREMT-Basic) certification issued by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
Education Required :
High School Graduate.
Experience Required :
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Proficient in the basic care of the ambulance patient.
Must possess and maintain a clean driving record as evidenced with no exclusions listed under insurance contract.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Responds within 15 minutes of an ambulance call when on call.
Potential exposure to Latex products, blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during work shift.
Must be able to :
lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.
lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
Must be able to :
push / pull with 30 lbs. of force.
perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Must have speech, hearing, & sight for communication during procedures in which incumbents are working side-by-side and must have touch and fine motor skill coordination.
Must be able to function in a very limited space, work will be in close proximity to the other health care members they are assisting.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
