The St. Johns Ministries team has an opening for an Overnight Shift Lead. The number of people experiencing homelessness or housing instability has risen and we are looking for a person that is mission-driven to help coordinate daily operations by supporting our employees.

Position Overview :
Our Overnight Shift Leads are an important component of our ability to provide a safe, comfortable environment for our shelter guests.
Shifts are available at both our mens and womens shelters. Hours for this position are 11 : 30pm-9am seven days a week. Minimum one shift per week.
Key Responsibilities :
- Overseeing shelter operations during the overnight and morning hours.
- Entering data into the computer system.
- Completing intake forms with new guests presenting to shelter.
- Assisting shelter guests with needs and addressing their concerns.
- Leading a team comprised of two other staff. Routinely checking in with staff and assisting when needed.
- Staffing our med room. Allowing guests access to their meds during overnight hours.
- Entering detailed notes of guest issues throughout the shift. Referring concerns to shelter leadership or case management.
- Engaging and building rapport with shelter guests.
- Filling donation requests, doing laundry and completing other tasks as needed.
Necessary Skills and Abilities :
Experience working with low-income individuals, mental health and substance abuse issues preferred, but not requiredA strong desire to serve others in the communityA positive attitudeA calm demeanor when dealing with challenging personalitiesProblem solving and conflict resolutionBasic computer skills. Familiarity with Word and Excel preferredResponsibility to present for your assigned shift, or to find coverage if you cannotAbility to lead a team and work well with othersAbility to juggle multiple responsibilitiesInitiative to address issues that may arisePhysical Demands :
Work Location : Regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. Occasionally required tolift andor move up to 20 pounds.Computer Use : Perform administrative tasks involving typing and computer use.Work Environment :
