ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE
Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a Patient Services Medical Assistant (PSMA) to support both front and back-office tasks. In this vital role, you’ll assist patients with scheduling and rescheduling appointments, direct incoming calls to the appropriate contacts, and support providers with clinical care in the back office. RESPONSIBILITIES
Patient Services Representative :
Direct Patient Care :
- Assesses incoming phone calls to determine the correct course of action based on customer's information and needs
- Corresponds with patients, salespeople, and visitors in an accurate, expeditious, courteous, and competent manner via in-person, telephone, and / or mail
- Conducts appointment reminder calls to all patients; including noted documents required for their visit
- Impacts patient experience by demonstrating courteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
Provider and Team Support :
Generates daily lists of scheduled appointments for the clinicShares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with care teamsOperates to instill confidence in our care and facilities to patients, fellow employees, and other stakeholdersClinical Administration :
Schedules appointments and enter all required data into electronic schedulerTracks and records filled and cancelled appointmentsPrepares patient charts prior to their appointmentsVerifies patient appointments and arrival time at registrationReceives and records patient payments in computer and ledger for services receivedVerifies patient records are up to date and accurate; makes appropriate changes in computer system, as neededCompletes ongoing / annual training for position complianceMedical Assistant :
Direct Patient Care :
Communicates and performs clinical care services with patientsTakes patient vital signs and obtains patient intake informationDiscusses patient needs and provides education and resources to patients directlyEnsures exam rooms are stocked, cleaned, and set up for examinations and proceduresProvider And Team Support :
Coordinates provider workflows to ensure efficient patient careEnsures the provider has all pertinent information required for each patient visit including diagnostic images, labs, procedure tray set-ups, and required screeningsAssists other providers and care teams in Chiropractic, Acupuncture, and Podiatry medicine departments as neededClinical Administration :
Utilizes electronic health records to order, process, and document clinical treatment plans for patients as directed by the providerConveys information to patients via telephone or email under the direction of a provider or Registered NurseProvide patient with requested documents after review to ensure forms are complete, accurate, and executed by the providerCompletes ongoing / annual training for position complianceEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High school diploma / GED requiredValid Medical Certificate from an accredited program requiredValid BLS certifications required upon hireOne year customer service experience required; in a healthcare setting preferredExperience working with electronic medical records and multi-phone lines preferredBilingual (English / Spanish), (English / Arabic), or (English / Mandarin) may be required by siteADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Pay range : $23.10 - $30.19 per hour depending on experience and additional qualifications.
Compensation Disclosure :
The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to : the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs.
As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
