Sr Manager, Software Engineering

Hybrid USA : The role requires a mix of days in CDK's Portland, OR office and can be worked remotely on the remaining days. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of this office.

Sr Manager, Software Engineering

Responsible for, but not limited to, the following :

Manages and coordinates the activities of direct reports

Receives guidance from manager

Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion

Coordinates work activities with other managers / leaders

Manages the coordination of activities within own team, often including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and work process

Reviews work of team members upon completion for quality, provides coaching and mentoring to team members

Identifies technical and operational challenges by analyzing multiple factors and / or leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the functional area

Decision making and problem solving are largely guided by policies, procedures and departmental plans

Provides guidance to direct reports

Drives engineering excellence and fosters innovation

Recommends changes to process and policies that affect immediate team

Influence decisions through persuasion to drive consensus

Executes ongoing goal setting, performance and development reviews according to the THRIVE process

Defines and executes detailed technical training plans according to the workforce planning strategy and learning objectives

Informs senior management of progress, risks related to key goals and objectives

Collaborates across multiple areas and / or with other departments to achieve project objectives

Qualification / Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Experience utilizing Agile and Scrum software development methodologies

3 - 5 years of management experience

Knowledge and / or project experience with AI LLMs

Self‑motivated, result‑oriented, problem‑solving attitude

High : collaboration, drive for results, people focus, customer focus

Demonstrable understanding of software engineering processes, including awareness of delivery requirements such as time and cost and an ability to recognize and manage performance with a focus on continuous improvement

Hands‑on experience with .NET and cloud‑native languages and toolsets

Compensation : $170,000 - $200,000

CDK Global is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, certifications, and work location. The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, benefits and / or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
