About Us

We are a manufacturing company known for designing, producing, and servicing high-quality machinery. As we grow, we need a Purchasing Manager who can take ownership of day-to-day procurement, keep production supplied with the right parts and materials, and maintain strong vendor relationships with our key suppliers and machine shops.

Position Overview

This role is hands-on and focused on the shop floor. The Purchasing Manager will handle purchasing of raw materials, machined components, and outside services, ensuring parts are sourced accurately and delivered on time. Success in this role comes from knowing how to work closely with machine shops, read prints, and understand machining processes so that suppliers are held accountable for cost, quality, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source, purchase, and track raw materials, machined parts, and outside services to keep production running smoothly.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with local and regional machine shops and fabricators.
  • Review engineering drawings / prints and understand machining requirements to quote, order, and verify supplier capability.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms with suppliers while balancing cost and quality.
  • Monitor part availability, delivery schedules, and resolve any supplier delays or quality issues quickly.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams on part requirements, design changes, and urgent needs.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, POs, and supplier performance data.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, improved lead times, and stronger supplier partnerships.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience buying machined parts and working with machine shops is required.
  • Ability to read engineering prints and understand machining processes.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Hands-on approach — willing to be on the shop floor, review parts, and work side by side with production teams.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with MRP / ERP systems preferred.
