Calibration Engineer

We have a position for an experienced calibration engineer to assist with diagnostic calibration. In this role, the engineer will receive data from engine test cells, prototype vehicles, and test benches to troubleshoot issues and calibrate features. This role collaborates with other teams.
What you will be doing :
- Support worldwide service and application engineering group
- Support 3 step on-board diagnostic reviews
- Review and provide the tuning for the diagnostics and features assigned by the calibration and diagnostic development team
- Provide support in subject matter expert area for Air-handling Area
- Provide support in Feature tuning for After treatment sensors, Engine Brakes, and Exhaust Throttle.
- Work closely with both Service and Tools engineers to develop calibrations and test software.
- Thoroughly document work performed via PRCR system evaluations, and necessary technical reports. Maintain data and specifications under configuration management. Due to global team participation, proper communication is absolutely critical to the success of this project.
- Submit PRCR's to document software issues discovered in the field.
- Prepare presentation material for design reviews.
- Calibration update and Integration.
- Provide integrated calibrations containing content provided by Cummins performance engineering teams.
- Provide documentation of calibration setting verification, FOM compliance, and ESW compliance.
- Participate in calibration requirements reviews for the represented engine programs.
- Review calibration requests and document and resolve any deficiencies.
- Calibration issue resolution.
- Resolve and document calibration-related issues during testing and in the field.
- Actively involved in automated closed-loop and open-loop testing on the load box for customer issues reported by the application engineers from the field.
- Record and analyze generated data including J1939 CAN traces to determine and solve the issues.
- Provide plant support for calibration-related issues.
- Review and finalize generic calibrations before sending to the calibration release team.
- Send development calibration to Application Engineers in the field for testing purposes.
- Work closely with cross-functional groups (e.g., CPE, ATI, Test, etc.). Develop test plans according to requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional groups to develop calibrations and test software.
- Develop data plots presentation documents.
- Develop and maintain miscellaneous support documentation such as application guides for group deliverables.
- Develop skills and knowledge to automate using VBScript and MATLAB scripts in order to reduce man-hours wherever possible.
- Interact with internal and external customers to identify customer requirements.
- Provide development calibration to Field Application Engineers for test purposes upon request through VPCR system.
- Modification and update calibration test procedures when required.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve calibration issues.
- Attend regular team meetings and communicate with peers about project updates.

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines.Experience with MATLAB Simulink required (need to be able to read Simulink models)MS-Office is requiredCalibration experience is requiredFundamental understanding of the internal combustion engines and aftertreatment systems is preferred.Experience in communicating and presenting technical content with external customers is preferred.Experience with different data processing tools for complex or large data sets (Matlab, Concerto, Excel, or similar).Good understanding & experience with Datalink protocols such as J1939 and CAN communication networks is preferred.Ability to analyze CAN Trace files is preferredWorking knowledge of CANalyzer or any similar data acquisition tools (Calterm, etc.)Experience with troubleshooting issues is highly desired.Experience with tuning diagnostics is highly desired.On-the-job engine testing, vehicle, or test cell experience with familiarity of data acquisition and instrumentation is preferred.Awareness and knowledge of Cummins internal tools such as C2ST, Integrity, Windchill will be a plus for this role.Works well with customers and coordinates with internal teams will be required.Seniority level
