We are seeking an experienced Principal Investigator (Archaeologist) to join our growing cultural resources team in Round Rock, Texas. This role offers the opportunity to lead and co-manage Phase I-III archaeological projects across Texas and neighboring states, conduct fieldwork, analyze artifacts, and contribute to high-quality archaeological reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in preserving historic and prehistoric resources while helping to expand our cultural resources practice.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead and manage small to medium archaeological projects or co-manage large projects.
- Serve as field lead for Phase I-III fieldwork, including site identification, excavation, and data collection.
- Analyze historic and prehistoric artifacts, features, and field samples.
- Prepare, review, and write portions of archaeological reports and site documentation.
- Assist in project planning, decision-making, and resolution of adverse effects on archaeological resources.
- Collaborate with field crews, lab staff, senior archaeologists, and administrative staff to ensure project quality standards are met.
- Support business development through proposals, budgets, and project planning materials as needed.
Required Qualifications :
Master's Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field from an accredited institution.Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.Minimum 5 years of professional archaeological experience (CRM experience preferred), including at least 3 years in a leadership role.Experience with Phase I-III fieldwork supervision and artifact analysis.Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas.Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.Regional experience in historic and / or prehistoric archaeology in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana.Strong written and oral communication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.Experience working with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.Valid driver's license.Must provide a writing sample and at least 3 professional references.Preferred Qualifications :
Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registered.Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Google Earth, ArcMap, or other GIS software.Significant lab and artifact curation experience.Why Join Us :
