Job description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Health & Benefits team at Mercer. This role will be based in Irvine, CA. It is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence at least three days a week.

Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant

As a Health & Benefits (H&B) Consultant , you will manage consulting engagements with 2,000+ life employers regarding their medical, dental, life, and disability benefit plans and programs. You will negotiate with benefits carriers and vendors to secure coverage, acting as the client manager and the Mercer relationship manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex client engagements, including overall service delivery, strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, renewal, business placement, benchmarking, and other studies.
  • Develop sophisticated benefits design and renewal strategies and drive the development of tools and solutions to address complex client issues.
  • Develop the full scope of services provided to the client and set roles and responsibilities within the client team.
  • Effectively communicate Mercer's position on the latest industry trends to clients.
  • Be accountable for revenue and profitability for client accounts and projects.
  • Monitor the success of projects in terms of scope, budget, timeliness, and client satisfaction.
  • Set strategic direction and create demand for new products and services in the marketplace.
  • Manage and participate in new business opportunities with sales channel partners.

Qualifications

  • BA / BS degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience identifying, designing, recommending, and implementing efficient, innovative business solutions to clients' complex healthcare benefit plans.
  • Client-facing experience in a consulting capacity.

    Marsh McLennan is committed to hybrid work, which includes the flexibility of working remotely and the collaboration, connections and professional development benefits of working together in the office. All Marsh McLennan colleagues are expected to be in their local office or working onsite with clients at least three days per week. Office-based teams will identify at least one "anchor day" per week on which their full team will be together in person.

    The applicable base salary range for this role is $88,000 to $176,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
