Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Rehab inpatient position in an acute level 1 trauma setting, requiring an AZ or compact RN license and recent trauma experience.
Responsibilities
Work in a 52-bed Neuro Rehab unit within an acute hospitalPrimary patient population includes neuro cases such as TBI, CVA, brain tumor resection, and transplant patientsRN patient ratio is 1 : 612-hour night shifts with 4 weekend shifts in each 4-week periodRequired to work at least 2 out of 4 major holidays as part of core rotationAssignment includes floating to any Med Surg unit as neededUses Cerner EMR systemOnsite interdisciplinary team rounds daily, with three rehab physicians and support from SWAT RN, 24 / 7 RT, and pharmacyFloor-specific orientation consists of 2 shiftsDaily responsibilities include neuro rehab nursing care, IV therapy, complex wound management, restraints, and patient / family communicationHigh patient and family interaction is expected, with focus on partnership of careScrub color is slate greySIMs Lab testing is pass / fail and breaking sterile field can result in dismissalMust maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean shaven for fit testingBusy periods typically occur between 6-9 am and 6 : 30-9 pmAverage patient length of stay is 19-21 daysHoliday coverage is required according to core rotation scheduleReturning candidates are ineligible if employed directly by the health system in the past yearRequirements
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of RN experience with demonstrated level 1 trauma experienceCurrent BLS certification requiredStrong Med Surg background is required; prior rehab experience is preferredMust pass a pre-assignment dysrhythmia exam (2 attempts allowed) and a day 1 sterile technique SIMs Lab skills test for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changesExperience with Cerner EMR is requiredMust meet a 50-mile residence distance from the facility, as shown by driver’s licenseCandidates must not have been directly employed by the health system within the past yearBenefits
