The Houston office of Sidley Austin LLP is accepting applications from current 1L law students for 2L positions in the 2027 2L Summer Associate Program. Successful candidates will have exceptional credentials and a genuine passion for the law.

Candidates who accept a 2027 2L Summer Associate position in Houston will have the option to participate in our full, 10-week, 2026 Summer Associate Program as a 1L Summer Associate. Candidates accepting 2027 2L Summer Associate positions in Houston are strongly encouraged to participate in the 2026 Summer Program as a 1L Summer Associate and will receive a bonus payment of $15,000 should they accept a 1L Summer Associate position in the 2026 Summer Program.

The Houston office is currently accepting applications from candidates interested in transactional work. The Houston office plans to conduct the vast majority of interviews for the summer program in early January.

Please include a resume, undergraduate transcript, and cover letter in your application materials. We will also require a law school transcript containing your 2025 fall grades. Upon receipt of your 2025 fall grades, please email your transcript to to update your application. We anticipate offers will be determined upon receipt and review of first semester grades.

Completing the Suited assessment is a required component of our recruiting process and can be found utilizing . The Suited assessment can be completed in advance of submitting your application. If you have already completed the Suited assessment, you do not need to retake it; however, you should ensure that you have released your scores to Sidley.

The salary for the Summer Associate position is equivalent to the pro rata portion of a first year associate’s salary for the 10-week Summer Program duration (currently, $4,327 per week)and this role is not eligible for benefits. Information on benefits for full time associates can be found .
