Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced PACU RN for an inpatient role requiring level 1 trauma and telemetry experience, with on-call and weekend duties.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the PACU unit of a hospital that functions as a Level I Trauma Center and teaching facility
  • Care for post-anesthesia patients, including pre / post cath lab and interventional radiology (IR) procedures
  • Nurse to patient ratio is 1 : 2 in PACU, and 1 : 3-5 when floating to the PACU holding area
  • Float within scope to PACU holding area as needed
  • Shifts are 4x12 hours, day shift from 9 : 00 to 21 : 30
  • On-call required for 1-2 overnight shifts per 4-week schedule
  • Weekend shift required one per month
  • Uses Cerner EMR
  • Responsible for the care of patients before and after cath lab and IR procedures in a dynamic trauma environment
  • First-time travelers may be accepted after client screening
  • Scrub color requirement is black
  • No block scheduling available
  • Time off during 12 / 24 and 12 / 25 is not permitted
  • Requests for time off greater than 7 days must be approved
  • Orientation includes completion of unit modules during the first week
  • No-cost parking available
  • Travelers must be ready to complete compliance tasks promptly upon accepting the offer
  • Perm staff may return as travelers if separated from the system for at least 12 months

    • Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license, or eligibility to obtain by start
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including level 1 trauma and telemetry experience
  • Certifications required : BCLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • Experience with pre and post cath lab and IR procedures
  • COVID vaccination required; medical or religious exemptions are accepted with documentation
  • No RQI certifications accepted
  • No local candidates within 75 miles
  • Driver’s license required or a written transportation plan if not available
