Associate General Counsel, Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission - (250006XH)
Purpose of the Position
The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission's Associate General Counsel will primarily be responsible for prosecuting administrative hearings against licensees on behalf of the Commission’s Enforcement Division. This includes researching complex legal issues related to alcoholic beverages law, negotiating with licensees, working with investigators to develop cases, conducting and responding to discovery, and preparing and arguing cases in administrative hearings before the Commission.
The Associate General Counsel will also be responsible for providing regular formal trainings for the Commission’s Enforcement Division, and for other office staff on an as-needed basis, which will include the preparation of written training materials and giving in-person presentations.
With the direction of the Executive Director and other members of the senior leadership team, the Associate General Counsel will also provide advice on legal issues as they arise, including in the areas of licensing and investigation to office staff. Additional duties may include responding to public records requests, responding to inquiries from members of the alcoholic beverages industry and the public, and performing any other duties as may be assigned.
The Associate General Counsel must be able to work in the Commission’s current office in Chelsea Massachusetts.

Physical Requirements
All new hires at the Office of the State Treasurer and Receiver General (Treasury) will go through an In-Office Orientation Period consisting of a combination of virtual, in-person and on-the-job training to assimilate into the Treasury’s culture and work environment. Following the initial In-Office Orientation Period there will be a gradual transition to a hybrid work arrangement over the first 3-8 weeks of employment.
The hybrid work environment will consist of a minimum of two (2) days in the office each week, with one of these days being either a Monday or a Friday. The hybrid work arrangement is based on the department’s business needs. There will be an additional one (1) day in the office per month for a mandatory in-person department meeting.
