Job Summary :
The Kitchen Fire Suppression Technician is responsible for inspecting, servicing, installing, and repairing kitchen fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens and food service establishments. This role ensures that all systems are compliant with local, state, and national fire codes and regulations to maintain optimal safety and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities :
- Inspect, test, and maintain kitchen fire suppression systems according to NFPA standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Install new kitchen fire suppression systems in commercial kitchens, ensuring proper configuration and coverage.
- Conduct semi-annual and annual maintenance and inspections on fire suppression systems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, or replace components such as nozzles, detectors, and control heads.
- Ensure compliance with fire codes, safety standards, and company quality procedures.
- Accurately complete inspection reports, service documentation, and customer invoices.
- Communicate effectively with customers regarding system performance, deficiencies, and repair recommendations.
- Coordinate with office staff and other technicians to schedule work efficiently.
- Maintain inventory of service parts, tools, and safety equipment.
- Adhere to all safety and company policies during field service work.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).Previous experience in fire suppression, fire protection, or related field.NICET or manufacturer certifications (Ansul, Pyro-Chem, Kidde, or equivalent) preferred.Strong knowledge of NFPA 17A, 96, and local fire codes.Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls daily.Excellent customer service and communication skills.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight or elevated spaces.Work Environment :
Field-based role requiring travel to various commercial kitchen sites.May include occasional overtime, on-call shifts, or emergency service calls.
