Position Summary
The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing all logistics operations within a manufacturing environment, including warehousing, distribution, transportation, and inventory management. This role ensures the efficient movement of raw materials, WIP and finished goods, adherence to production schedules, and alignment with company performance goals and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a track record of using KPI’s, Lean practices, and systems tools to drive the supply chain and warehouse efficiently, accuracy and support to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement logistics strategies that align with manufacturing and operational goals.
- Manage daily operations related to inbound and outbound shipments, warehousing, and distribution.
- Coordinate transportation of raw materials to the production floor and delivery of finished goods to customers.
- Optimize routing, carrier selection, and freight cost to enhance delivery performance and cost-efficiency.
- Ensure accurate inventory management and material availability for uninterrupted production.
- Monitor KPIs and logistics metrics; generate reports for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with procurement, production planning, and quality teams to align supply chain processes.
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, planning, procurement, and quality to support manufacturing goals and ensure material availability.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, including DOT, OSHA, and HAZMAT standards.Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party logistics (3PL) providers and freight carriers.Lead, train, and develop logistics personnel to achieve department and company objectives.Lead and develop a high-performing logistics team; provide coaching, training, performance reviews, and enforce company policies.
Support implementation and use of logistics and ERP systems to improve operational visibility.Oversee maintenance of warehouse equipment, forklifts, wrapping machines, compressors, scales, and ensure safe, efficient operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (required).8 to 15+ years of logistics or supply chain experience in a manufacturing setting (required).Experience managing warehouse, transportation, and inventory operations.Strong understanding of logistics software and ERP systems used in manufacturing.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations (e.g., DOT, OSHA, HAZMAT) preferred.Knowledge of import and export concepts and regulations.
