Salary : $30.75 - $41.52 per hour. Placement within the salary range depends on relevant work experience and internal equity. For represented positions, placement within the range follows the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Role overview : As a Stationary Engineer, you will operate and maintain building mechanical systems and equipment within the Lake Forest Hospital complex, including power plant equipment such as high-pressure boilers, chillers, and medical air compressors. The goal is safe, efficient, reliable operation with minimal unscheduled downtime, maintaining comfortable occupant environments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and assist in maintaining and repairing power plant equipment with minor supervision; monitor engineering systems and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Operate high-pressure boilers and related equipment (chillers, cooling towers, hot water systems, generators, electrical switchgear, energy management system).
• Perform safety checks, preventive maintenance, and repairs on assigned equipment; clean and service equipment and piping in power plant and mechanical rooms.
• Conduct chemical analysis of boiler, chiller, cooling tower, and closed-loop systems; manage chemical dosing within prescribed balance.
• Handle chemical drums safely and dispose of waste properly; understand the importance of chemical balance in all systems.
• Respond to plant emergencies, locate firefighting equipment, and address service requests with proper documentation.
• Perform scheduled maintenance and inspections per organizational and regulatory standards.
• Operate facility equipment safely and efficiently; may assist contractors / vendors with repairs, maintenance, and construction.
