DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for the total care of residents and supervision of nursing care at the Southeastern Veterans' Center. Your work will involve providing general supervision and assistance to all the nurses in the daily implementation of health care activities, treatments and medications for residents. You will also plan and evaluate the delivery of services, participate in the observation of residents' conditions, record daily care performed, and obtain medical equipment and supplies necessary to meet the needs of residents. Some of your duties will also include scheduling personnel, interviewing and selecting employees, evaluating employee performance, and determining subordinate training needs. Additionally, you will communicate with facility managers, supervisors, health services personnel, visitors, volunteers and family members, as well as conduct investigations for resident and employee complaints.

Work Schedule and Additional Information :

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts. Training will be conducted during the day shift

1st shift : Six (6) 12-hour shifts : 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 30 PM; one (1) 8-hour shift : 3 : 00 PM to 11 : 30 AM

  • 2nd shift : Six (6) 12-hour shifts : 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM; one (1) 8-hour shift : 11 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM
  • Telework : You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary : In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements :

  • Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and / or a developmental disability.

    • Special Requirements :

  • All positions require active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

    • Other Requirements :

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    • Legal Requirements :

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
