Doctor shortages are one of the biggest healthcare challenges in America today and as our Lead Data Scientist you’ll be directly working at Barton to solve it.
As our Lead Data Scientist you will work closely with Barton leadership to drive commercial growth for the organization by combining your advanced technical skills, consulting, and business acumen. This is a great role for someone who wants to thrive at the intersections of AI, machine learning, software development, and business.
Your primary focus will be to drive sales growth by helping Barton identify key buyers (think hospitals, clinics, and other care sites) and get them to sign on with us for locum tenens services. Typical problems for this role will solve include :
- Which facilities are most likely to need temporary providers and what specialties?
- Which needs are Barton best suited to address?
- What messaging would resonate most with them given their need?
- Who at the facility holds decision rights for hiring locums?
- What is the best time, channel, and message to engage with prospective buyers?
- What is the optimal engagement strategy to win over prospective buyers?
- How can we better connect state of the art recruiting with sales to create new growth?

6 to 10 years of professional experience in predictive modeling, data science, machine learningFluency with data science tools, e.g., SQL, Python, R, and ability to learn new tools on the flyHands on experience with explainable machine learning, e.g., ShapleyHands on experience using LLMs in workflows, e.g., API calls to chatGPTRobust conceptual understanding of modeling, e.g., what is XGBoost and how does it work, and generative AI, e.g., how does gradient descent work, why is it relevantComfort and experience engaging with business peers and leaders, this role will be expected to present to executives periodicallyComfort in both back office / heads down mode as well as front office / interpersonal mode, in other words you not only like building models, you also like promoting, teaching, and explaining them to non-technical peoplePreferences :
