Appointment Type : This is a Temporary Provisional (TPV) position excluded by the Charter from the competitive Civil Service examination process. It is considered "at will" and shall serve at the discretion of the Department Head. This position will be subject to the Permanent Civil Service examination process at a later date. Successful participation in the Permanent Civil Service examination and selection through an open competitive process is needed in order to be considered for the permanent appointment.

Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Reentry Division Director, the 9774 Sr. Community Development Specialist I will coordinate, monitor, and evaluate reentry services / resources funded through the San Francisco Adult Probation Department (SFAPD). The 9774 Sr. Community Development Specialist I also supports staffing the Reentry Council, Sub Committees, and the Community Corrections Partnership, and provides other reentry services assistance as requested or directed. The 9774 Sr. Community Development Specialist will be expected to help engage justice involved clients at the front counter, and assist with collaborative activities, at the Community Assessment Services Center (CASC).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of administrative / professional experience in community development, housing and / or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children / youth work, or criminal justice.
SUBSTITUTION
Verifiable administrative / professional experience involving community development, housing and / or housing development, workforce development, finance, education, social work, children / youth work, or criminal justice may substitute for the educational requirement in Minimum Qualification #1 on a year-for-year basis.

SELECTION PROCEDURES
The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements and assessment of candidates’ job-related knowledge, skills and abilities in an oral interview, which may include a written or performance exercise.
Depending on the number of applicants, the Department may establish and implement additional screening mechanisms to comparatively evaluate qualifications of candidates. If this becomes necessary, only those applicants whose qualifications most closely meet the needs of the department will be invited to continue in the selection process. Applicants meeting the minimum requirements are not guaranteed advancement in the selection process.
