GENERAL SUMMARY

The Curriculum Developer & Trainer research training needs, designs curricula and delivers training workshops to tribal and community clients. This role develops custom programs that prepare participants for workforce certifications and provides career‑readiness training (résumé development, interview skills and job‑search strategies). The position creates written materials and marketing content and collaborates closely with the program manager and coordinator to ensure high‑quality training delivery.

This role requires maintaining confidentiality, ensuring the accuracy and security of records, and fostering positive relationships with employees, customers, and community members. Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with exceptional customer service, are essential. Regular attendance is required, and occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary to meet project deadlines. A professional, well-groomed appearance is expected at all times.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are representative of the responsibilities assigned to this position. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Needs assessment and curriculum design

  • Conduct surveys and interviews to determine training needs.
  • Research industry standards and certification requirements.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructor guides, presentations and hands‑on activities for digital literacy, workforce certifications and professional‑development topics.

Custom training delivery

  • Deliver workshops to employees, tribal members and community clients using diverse instructional techniques (classroom, virtual, hands‑on).
  • Partner with external trainers to facilitate certification courses; ensure curricula meet OSHA requirements for formal and practical instruction.
  • Evaluate participant learning outcomes and adjust curricula accordingly.
  • Career readiness services

  • Provide instruction in résumé writing, job applications, interview techniques, workplace ethics and soft skills.
  • Offer individualized coaching sessions; use tools like the Washington Occupational Information System (WOIS) and the Myers‑Briggs Type Indicator.
  • Train TPD clients and tribal youth on how to use the Career Planner (formerly known as WOIS- Washington Occupational Information System)
  • Assist program participants with pre-employment skills; in the areas of job applications, resume writing and interview techniques.
  • Content development and promotion

  • Produce marketing materials (training calendars, flyers, newsletters) and write monthly articles for the tribal newsletter.
  • Maintain a library of training resources and ensure materials are culturally appropriate.
  • Cross‑training and program support

  • Assist the Training & Professional Development Manager with program evaluation and strategic planning as needed.
  • Participate in cross‑training activities to provide backup for orientation sessions and to learn basic scheduling processes.
  • Other duties as assigned consistent with the scope of the position.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Business or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in teaching, training or curriculum development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations and designing training materials.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Education, Organizational Development or a related field.
  • Certifications in workforce training or instructional design (e.g., Association for Talent Development).
  • Knowledge of the Nisqually Indian Tribe's history, customs, traditions, and ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Experience working with Federally Recognized Tribes.
  • SUPERVISION

    This position does not supervise staff but collaborates closely with the Training & Professional Development Manager and Training Program Coordinator. This position reports to the Program Manager.

  • Certification requirements : familiarity with standards for forklift, heavy‑equipment, CDL, diving and flagging certifications, ensuring training meets formal and practical instruction requirements.
  • Career‑readiness competencies : understanding job‑search strategies, résumé writing, interview techniques and soft‑skill development.
  • Evaluation methods : knowledge of assessment tools and training evaluation techniques to measure learning outcomes.

  • Research and analysis : ability to conduct training needs assessments through surveys, interviews and labor‑market analysis.
  • Curriculum design : produce comprehensive training materials (lesson plans, PowerPoints, manuals) for both workforce certifications and soft‑skill topics.
  • Training delivery : strong presentation, facilitation and group management skills; comfortable teaching diverse audiences in classroom and hands‑on settings.
  • Writing and content creation : skill in drafting clear instructional materials, marketing copy and newsletter articles.
  • Technology proficiency : advanced use of Microsoft Office, online learning platforms and career‑planning tools.
  • Collaboration and coordination : ability to work closely with the manager and coordinator to align scheduling, marketing and evaluation.

  • Adapt curricula : modify training based on participant feedback, changing certification requirements or emerging industry demands.

This person may regularly lift and / or move up to 30+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.

    Drug Screening :
