American Soil Testing and Engineering, Inc. is a geotechnical services company located in San Jose and Alamo, California. We provide services for residential and commercial projects, evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting the characteristics and behavior of subsurface soils and groundwater, and preparing reports.

Candidate must

  • Skilled in exploratory drilling coordination, soil sampling, geological logging, groundwater and soil vapor sampling, and site inspections for residential construction projects.
  • Proficient in geological logging, mapping, and report writing to support design
  • Explicitly responsible for preparing geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical memos, demonstrating excellent written communication skills.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses, including shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, trench work, temporary retaining systems, drainage systems, pavements, liquefaction, settlement, and seismic assessments.
  • Evaluate design drawings and documentation.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a registered Geologist. The Geologist will be responsible for field work, logging, geological mapping, drilling, and report writing. They will also interact with other team members, clients, and stakeholders, and will need to be able to accurately communicate their findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in Field Work, Logging, and Geological Mapping
  • Minimum 4 years of experience as a geotechnical engineer or a geologist
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to accurately convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Geology or related field
  • California Professional Geology or geotechnical license, or eligible for licensure in California
  • Experience working in the San Francisco Bay Area is a plus
