The Solar Monitoring & Performance Specialist is part of the QE Solar Distributed Generation organization. This role is responsible for real-time remote monitoring of distribution level renewable generating assets, assuring performance and reliability of photovoltaic powerplants and adhering to all QE Solar, and Industry standards to maximize safety and productivity. The monitoring center will be required to provide operational coverage from 7 : 00 AM EST to 7 : 00 PM HST.
Travel Requirements :
Reliable transportation to and from QE Solar’s Scottsdale or Springfield office. Must live within 45 minutes (drive time) of Scottsdale, AZ.
Essential Duties & Approximate Commitment of Time
Monitor Distribution Level Generation PV Plants (70% of time)
- Monitor multiple DG solar sites using QE’s proprietary Centralized Monitoring Tool, DAS platforms, and other computer systems to maximize site production
- Dispatch appropriate resources in accordance with established operating protocols.
- Communicate as necessary in real-time with utilities, field operations, customers, emergency service personnel, etc.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders (Portfolio Leads, Field Operations, etc.), and external stakeholders (customers, utilities, etc.) to maximize system performance and assure contractual compliance
- Perform remote investigations, performance analysis & reporting, and provide technical support to our field technicians
- Escalate concerns to ensure that projects maintain operations and availability; track and advise on progress against established project models or production targets
- Document operating issues in QE’s proprietary CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Additional Responsibilities (30% of time)
Re-assign existing work orders in accordance with established protocols.Assist with maintenance schedulingParticipate in initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness of QE Solar operations (examples : procedure development and review, special projects, data analysis, quality assurance)Position Requirements
Education Required :
Associate’s degree (STEM) or Technical School Degree. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredExperience Required :
Microsoft Office suite.Experience with DG PV power generation facilities.Experience with DAS / SCADA systems.Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).Experience Preferred :
Previous PV monitoring and / or field experience is a plusExperience with solar specific monitoring platforms such as Also Energy, eGuage, Locus, etc.The ability to remote into local control networks for troubleshooting and analysisExperience with SEL relays, software, etc.Ability to read and understand electrical and project design drawings.OSHA 30 CertificationCompletion of NFPA 70E coursesWillingness to obtain certificationsPhysical Requirements :
