Blue Star Properties is a Chicago-based commercial real estate company known for the acquisition and revitalization of urban retail, commercial office, entertainment venue, and hospitality properties in and around Chicago.
We are seeking a Construction Manager to join our team on a variety of high-profile commercial & hospitality projects. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in project management or construction superintendent roles, preferably in commercial office or hospitality projects.
Role Responsibilities :
Project Oversight & Management
- Budgeting & Financials : Develop and manage project budgets and cash flow. Oversee monthly draws, invoices, and financial close-out procedures.
- Scheduling : Create and maintain project schedules. Coordinate deliveries and purchases to align with timelines.
Team & Field Supervision
Daily Crew Management : Supervise Blue Star’s construction crew activities on-site.Site Visits & Quality Control : Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, safety, and quality. Lead construction administration tasks.Communication & Coordination
Stakeholder Engagement : Serve as the main point of contact for internal staff, tenants, and subcontractors. Document decisions and maintain clear communication throughout all phases.Reporting : Prepare status updates for clients and internal teams.Technical & Design Collaboration
Code Compliance : Assist with resolving code-related construction issues.Design Integration : Collaborate with design, property management, leasing teams, and external consultants.Documentation Review : Interpret and work from architectural drawings and finish schedules.Procurement & Vendor Relations
Purchasing : Process and track materials and equipment purchases.Vendor Coordination : Consult with subcontractors, vendors, and fabricators. Solicit and evaluate proposals.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school, or equalProficiency in Microsoft Word, ExcelProficient In SpanishAbility to read and understand drawings including, but not limited to : Floor plans, Interior elevations, reflected ceiling plans, Millwork details, and Finish schedules.Excellent and effective written, verbal, and team management skills.Broad knowledge base of general construction with In-depth experience with interior constructionStrong leadership, organization, ability to multitask and adapt to a variety of challenges.Experience with field management of projects and tradesSkilled In rough and finish carpentry Is preferredJob Type : Full-time, Salaried position, 40+ hours / weekly
Salary Range : $130k - 140k / yearly
Location : 600 W Van Buren office and various project sites throughout Chicago
