About the Role
The Company is in search of an Assistant General Counsel to join its legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support on a wide range of issues, with a focus on matters related to private foundation laws, including charitable grantmaking and other expenditures. This role involves reviewing and advising on contracts, ensuring compliance with internal policies, and supporting the legal aspects of special projects. The Assistant General Counsel will also be involved in legal research, managing corporate filing requirements, and providing training on legal and policy matters.
Applicants must have a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school, be admitted to practice law in any state, and have at least four years of relevant legal experience. While not mandatory, experience in advising private foundations or tax-exempt organizations, as well as in drafting and negotiating contracts, is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a high level of ethics and integrity, a strong commitment to the company's mission, and the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels. Core capabilities include strong analytical and legal research skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks, and a proactive, problem-solving approach. Familiarity with emerging issues in the legal landscape and an interest in the application of technology, such as artificial intelligence, to advance the company's work, are also desirable.
