Department / Unit Summary The Emergency Department at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. The ER has 22 beds, 7 bay fast track unit operates within a trauma II hospital setting, ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support. The Emergency Department has been recognized company wide as a consistent top performer.The ED staff works in a team environment.The ER welcomes many area college and physician resident students in the department. Education : Associate's Degree in Nursing Required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred License : Current RN to practice in the state of Kentucky or a current multistate license Certifications : ACLS, BCLS, PALS; NIHSS within 90 days of hire Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Computer proficiency required. Essential Functions Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment. Documents patient care given. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family. Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual / psychosocial support needs. Evaluates learning needs of patient and / or family and provides patient / family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances. Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
