Position Overview

The Clearing and Forestry Superintendent will directly oversee construction related field operations from helping to develop bid strategy to project execution. He / she will be responsible for providing a safe work place for employees, developing employees for future roles, and customer / community relations. The Clearing and Forestry Superintendent will take the lead in ensuring all lines of business are working together to meet the overarching company goal of maximizing material sales and overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Overall responsibility for timber, clearing and wood chip activities including establishing costs for bidding, bid analysis, and completing projects on time and on budget.
• Continuously coordinate with job superintendents, owners, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure projects are successfully completed.
• A complete understanding of the market, the players in the market (competitors / customers) and how best to balance internal construction activities and external sales with the goal of maximizing overall company profitability.
• Develop and maintain a strong competency and understanding in the software used by the company to assist in analysis, forecasting, bid strategy and cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the SC DES, General Contractors and other key accounts.
• Planning and coordination of people, equipment, materials, etc. between various projects and customers.
• Ensure proper staffing of project supervision, crews, laborers, equipment, subcontractors, etc.
• Oversee scheduling of crews, trucks, and oversee all related projects to ensure project execution and build out.
• Provide effective communication and long-term planning.
• Adhere to any and all state, federal, and company regulations.
• Operate and Oversee all wood chipping facilities and locations.
