Summary Objective This position performs a variety of routine administrative and clinical tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the spine and pain management clinic.
The MA is responsible for coordinating and performing general office functions and receptionist duties including greeting patients, maintaining patient schedules & patient reports, typing correspondence, filing, answering phones and transmitting messages.
This position is clinically competent and assists in delivery of direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse or physician.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Assist in delivery of direct patient care as directed.
Support clinic team to follow the performance expectations for reaching the key performance indicators (KPIs) for a sustainable program :
market capture goals, seeing four patients per hour, reaching 30% procedure ratio, and completing time out and chart audits to monitor quality of care. Complete accurate documentation in patient records and charges as directed.Assist physician with patient treatments and offer support to patient and monitor patient throughout clinical visits. Correctly identify patient by name for any direct care procedures and / or treatment, check identification of patient by use of their name band and ensure that a patient is always banded with proper name as required. Exhibit knowledge of the spine and pain management center and the management line of authority to follow proper line of communication.Maintain and comply with policies, and paperwork for the Spine and Pain Management Center.Accurately schedule all clinical and procedure appointments as required.Continuously maintain and monitor schedules to ensure full daily appointment utilization.Accurately receive and transmit information to and from physician’s offices regarding pain management patients’ care plans. Support and assist secretary for Pre-Registration and Registration of all clinical and procedure patients per hospital policy and processes. Support or assist with clinical data entry as directed by Clinic Manager and Regional Director in a timely manner per clinical policy.Transmit charge sheets to third party billing service in a timely and accurate manner.Answer telephone promptly, direct calls appropriately, and relay messages. Assemble New Patient Packets Display commitment to ongoing training and attend required educational programs.Prioritize a wide variety of tasks, meet tight timeframes, adjust to unexpected or unscheduled demands, and revise work accordingly.Correctly identify patient by name for any direct care procedures and / or treatment and check identification of patient by use of two patient identifiers.Always verify with the patient the procedural laterality when appropriate.Perform other duties as required or assigned.Adhere to attendance policy.Perform various clerical duties such as copying, filing, typing, statistical information gathering, and others as requested.Remain in the work area, complete duties as assigned and anticipate needs.Responsible for in-coming and out-going referrals.Scan necessary documents to have patient charting complete.Enter data into iStats and hospital data base when required.Treat everyone as a customer. Experience and Requirements Licensure / Certification / Registration (if required by state) Certified Medical Assistant Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA), preferred BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer Education High School diploma or equivalent, Medical Assistant Certificate Program Medical Assistant with an Associate Degree, preferred Experience & Qualifications (required) Previous experience in physician office and billing Able to manage multiple priorities effectively Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills Good communication and organizational skills Able to take immediate action in serious situations Able to read and follow instructions in English Physical Demands This position has a strong physical demand and requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The associate will be standing for 6-8 hours / day.The associate will be required to lift 50 pounds or more and lift above the shoulders.The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.Individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity.This position is classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.) Powered by JazzHR
