POSITION : Dispatcher

REPORTS TO : Route Manager

LOCATION : Chowchilla, CA

SALARY : $20.00 to $23.00 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION : The Dispatcher will be responsible for the coordination of drivers, trucks, and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity, and ensure prompt, professional, courteous, and efficient service for all lines of business. Handle incoming service orders, resolve service issues and provide customer service to internal and external customers. Additional responsibility includes entering ticket information and tracking activity.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Assign loads to drivers based on designated routes and driver locations
• Dispatch drivers to calls as they are received, utilizing information on customer needs, driver locations and loads, and daily factors to balance cost and speed of response
• Create and maximize capacity by ensuring productive use of all assets, equipment, and drivers
• Handle incoming calls, e-mails, and customer issues that have been received from the Customer Service and Sales departments
• Manage requests for pick-up or container delivery in a timely manner and initiate outbound calls to customers as needed
• Troubleshoot and resolve potential delivery and / or pick-up problems before they result in a service issue
• Gather and maintain route sheet documentation for pick-ups (scheduled, missed, extra pick-ups), route completions, and driver locations
• Ensure route completion via the driver check-in process
• Report and document driver performance issues, concerns, or disputes to appropriate management for resolution
• Communicate with maintenance shop personnel and serve as an emergency point of contact
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
