Leidos has an opening for a Research Scientist at the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command - Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) facility located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.

This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the DEVCOM CBC mission. In this mission we support DEVCOM CBC in basic and applied research, development, testing, and evaluation efforts to support the U.S. Warfighter and ensure our Warfighters maintain battlefield dominance during a chemical and / or biological event.

Primary Responsibilities. Specific efforts will include analysis of chemical materials, characterization of novel materials, computational chemistry, and other chemical modeling and simulation efforts.

Basic Qualifications. BS degree in Chemistry or other equivalent scientific field with 5-8 years of prior relevant experience or advanced degree with 2-4 years relevant experience. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U. S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance with potential for Top Secret Clearance; Candidate must have demonstrated experience and be versed in safe handling of toxic industrial chemicals and toxic industrial materials and must have demonstrated experience in supporting chemical analyses, chemical property determinations, and computational chemistry to include chemical engineering reaction kinetics. Must have demonstrated experience in the operation of Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, gas chromatograph - mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.

Preferred Qualifications. Familiarity with application of technologies such as Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Diffraction and Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (DRIFTs). Preference to candidates previously, in-process, or currently enrolled into the U.S. Army Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (c-PRP).

Pay Range :

Pay Range $67,600.00 - $122,200.00
