About the Role
The entry-level IT Technician position is responsible for providing day-to-day technical support and system maintenance for staff across the organization. The IT Technician helps ensure that users have reliable access to systems and devices, and that all equipment stays secure and up to date. The ideal candidate is motivated, curious, and eager to build a foundation in IT.
Responsibilities
IT Maintenance
- Assist with routine maintenance tasks including printer management, software updates, and operating system patching.
Technical Support
Provide first-line technical support for desktop and laptop systems, including diagnosing and resolving issues related to software, hardware, and peripheral devices.Install, configure, and set up new computers and user accounts for Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.Perform basic troubleshooting for email, printing, file access, and system performance issues.Assist with password resets, group membership changes, and user account updates in Active Directory and other internal systems.Install and update standard business software using remote management tools under the guidance of senior staff.Prepare workstations and hardware for new employees, including device configuration and setup of network access and email.Escalate complex issues to the Systems Administrator after performing initial diagnostics and documentation.Monitor and verify antivirus software status to ensure devices are protected; report and assist with the resolution of threats or alerts.Keep accurate and up-to-date inventory records for devices, peripherals, and user assignments.Document common support procedures and contribute to the development of internal IT guides.Follow established ticketing protocols and service-level expectations for timely issue resolution.Participate in IT team meetings and provide input for improving processes and service delivery.Support video conferencing tools and provide in-room A / V setup or troubleshooting for meetings.Help manage and troubleshoot mobile devices, tablets, and peripheral connections.Participate in software rollouts and minor upgrade projects as directed.Monitor IT alerts and assist with logging and tracking security or performance issues.Provide occasional support for remote users, including VPN configuration and basic home setup troubleshooting.Support compliance requirements such as NAID and R2, audit log checks, and assisting with credit card processing environment standards under the direction of the System Administrator.Provide occasional on-site or remote assistance for broadband / WISP network equipment in coordination with the Network Operations team.Perform additional duties as requestedRequirements
Associate's degree or equivalent experience2+ years of experience in IT support or help desk environmentsFamiliarity with Windows deployment and imaging preferredBasic understanding of IP networking, DNS, DHCP, and common connectivity troubleshooting stepsKnowledge of antivirus software and general endpoint security practicesStrong customer service skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical usersExposure to remote management tools for software installation and patchingStrong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPassion for technology and continuous learningAbility to meet deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced, changing environmentMust be flexible, self-motivated, and adaptableComfortable working in a general warehouse settingGood organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to follow standard proceduresWhat We Value
