American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Surgical Acute Medical-Surgical position in Illinois, requiring recent post-op care experience and an active IL RN license.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a 63-bed Surgical Acute Medical-Surgical unit within an acute care settingPatient population includes post-op surgical, trauma, and medical overflow casesNurse-to-patient ratios of 4-5 : 1 on days and 5-6 : 1 on nightsNight shifts are 12 hours (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM) with rotating weekends and holidaysTravelers are first to float to similar units based on experienceSome patients may require telemetry monitoring with Phillips monitors, monitor techs availableUses Epic EMR systemCPAP and high flow respiratory support used; RNs manage inhalers and place patients on CPAPWill participate in a two-shift department-specific orientation with preceptor, plus one shift for Epic and professional orientationCharge RNs and house supervisor available on every shift, charge RNs do not take patient assignmentsPatient care techs assist with ADLs, vital signs, and other support tasksNo titratable drips except set rate Heparin; RNs do not titrate other dripsScrubs of any color are permittedTravelers cannot self-schedule and must have block scheduling approved at contract timeEvery other weekend and rotating holiday coverage is requiredNo call or standby requirement for this positionThere is no radius rule; local rates apply for candidates living within 50 miles\n \n Requirements\n
Active IL RN license required at time of considerationAt least 1 year of recent medical-surgical or surgical acute experienceCurrent BLS certification (AHA)Must have post-op care skills and strong critical thinking abilitiesExperience with Epic charting system preferredAbility to perform wound care, dressing changes, IV therapy, pain management, and manage drains, NGs, central lines, and TPNMust submit with all required documents and certifications active at the time of application\n Benefits\n
