Basic Function : This is an entry-level position under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator, performing a variety of skilled duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned facilities, utilities, and equipment including tasks in electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, blacksmithing, and painting. Salary Range : $59,508 - $65,608.
This is the (Journey) level Facilities Maintenance Technician Position, under the direction of the Building Maintenance Superintendent, performing a variety of skilled duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned facilities, utilities, and equipment including tasks in electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing, and painting. Salary Range : $61,182 - $74,148.

- Performing a variety of skilled duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned facilities, utilities, and equipment including tasks in electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, locksmithing, and painting.
- Assisting with compliance of applicable laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations.
- Interpreting plans, diagrams, blueprints, sketches, and specifications; estimating time, material, and equipment needs for assigned projects; ordering, receiving, and maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Inspecting, repairing, installing, testing, servicing, and maintaining electrical systems, including emergency generators, photovoltaic systems, conduits, wiring, light and power circuits, motors, appliances, generators, transformers, controls, lighting fixtures, fuses, receptacles, distribution panels, and switch gear.
- Installing, servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and equipment including control technologies, compressors, circuit boards, relays, motors, drives, belts, electrical contactors, clocks, valves, switches, heat exchangers, and a variety of other devices.
- Constructing, altering, repairing, and inspecting structures including cabinets, shelves, partitions, counters, doors, paneling, window frames, walls, and a variety of special fixtures; installing drywall and insulation; preparing moldings and performing finishing work.
- Performing a variety of skilled plumbing duties in the installation, maintenance, and repair of faucets, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, sinks, pipes, valves, pumps, heaters, boilers, and other fittings and fixtures; cutting and threading piping; soldering piping and fittings; inspecting and repairing leaks, obstructions, and general system failures.
- Operating a variety of maintenance tools and equipment including power saws, jointers, drills, nail guns, sanders, sprayers, metal cutters, compressors, testers, meters, planers, and various other hand and power tools; maintaining tools and equipment in proper working condition; driving a City vehicle conduct work.
- Installing, repairing, and maintaining locks and related parts; cutting keys and re-keying locks; re-pinning new and existing locks; repairing padlocks and locksets.
- Performing a variety of welding and metal fabrication duties as directed; utilizing appropriate welding equipment.
- Preparing surfaces for painting; applying a variety of surface coatings such as paint, stain, varnish, enamel, lacquer, or other protective or decorative finishes; operating a brush, roller, or spray equipment to apply a variety of surface coverings to various surfaces.
- Communicating with City personnel and various outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate, and resolve issues or concerns.
- Maintaining a variety of records related to assigned activities.

Education and experience :
(I) Any combination equivalent to : Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program and / or two years increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and / or construction trades. To flex from a (I) to the (II) position, employees shall complete a minimum of (Two full years) of continuous service performing satisfactory or better at the Tech (1) level.(II) Any combination equivalent to : Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program and / or three years increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and construction related trades. Including (Two full years) of continuous service performing satisfactory or better at the Tech (1) level.Licenses and other requirements :
(I) Valid California driver's license.(II) Valid California driver's license. While working at the Tech (II) level, the employee shall acquire and maintain EPA certification as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.Working Conditions :
