Van Driver Patient Transportation Temporary Position

Position : Patient Transportation Driver

Status : Full Time, Hourly with on-call Weekend Rotations

• This is a temporary position that will start at the beginning of December and continue for approximately 8 weeks

Position Summary :

The Patient Transport Driver provides safe, professional transportation for patients and residents to and from discharge locations, hospitals, doctor appointments, home passes, and other destinations. Ensure patient safety, comfort, and well-being, maintaining confidentiality, dignity, and respect at all times. Adhere to facility policies, HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and complete accurate documentation. Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as vehicle cleaning, coordinate with staff, and participate in departmental operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities :

Safely transport patients / residents and monitor their well-being during trips.

Follow all driving, safety, and infection control protocols.

Complete daily reports, vehicle logs, and incident documentation.

Maintain vehicles, including cleaning, washing, and stocking supplies.

Assist in route planning and coordinate with staff for timely transports.

Respond to vehicle or patient emergencies appropriately.

Maintain professional interactions with patients, families, staff, and the public.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

High School Diploma / GED required.

Candidates with previous transportation / driving experience will be given preference; Previous experience working with patients or in a healthcare setting preferred

Valid Louisiana Driver’s License and clean driving record required

Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and composure in challenging situations.
