Job Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring cardiac and respiratory critical care skills and an active IL license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital intensive care unit (ICU) with 20 beds
  • Patient ratio is 1 : 2 in the ICU
  • Care for cardiac, CVICU, renal failure, and stroke patients in a Level II Trauma Center
  • Night shift schedule from 18 : 00 to 06 : 30, three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Every other weekend is required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within scope to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed
  • Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience preferred
  • Primary duties include delivering comprehensive critical care to ICU patients with complex cardiac, renal, and respiratory needs
  • Royal blue scrubs are required for this position
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Expect to work 2 of the 3 major holidays during the contract
  • RTO (time off) of up to 5 days is allowed; more requires manager approval
  • Parking permit is provided at no cost and must be arranged during orientation
  • Background check approval may be required prior to offer
  • Lab appointments, badge photos, and modules must be completed prior to or at the start of the assignment
  • \n \n Requirements\n

  • Active IL RN license required at time of application
  • Minimum 2 years ICU RN experience with cardiac critical care or CVICU experience
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS, NIH (AHA or Red Cross only, RQI not accepted)
  • Experience in cardiac monitoring, emergency response, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12 lead EKG
  • Pre- and post-cardiac cath / intervention skills and chronic / acute renal failure experience required
  • IV therapy skills including arterial line, central / PICC line management, starting IVs, and blood product administration
  • Emergency medication administration, titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips, and continuous IV sedation experience required
  • Experience with CVA / acute stroke management and respiratory interventions including ventilator care, BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, and ABG interpretation
  • Infection prevention, isolation precautions, PPE use, and rapid response / code blue experience required
  • Must not have been a permanent or PRN employee of Memorial within the past 12 months
