Float Central Registration / PER. The Central Registration position will start remotely. As the role develops, there may be a future requirement to work on-site, so candidates should be open to this potential change. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday Friday. Employees may select a consistent 8.5 hour shift between 7 : 00am 7 : 00pm. If the position transitions to a traditional PER float role, schedule flexibility will be required to support onsite shifts between 7 : 00am 7 : 00pm, based on department needs. In the traditional PER Float role, travel to Boston, Brookline, and Jamaica Plain is required (all locations are accessible by public transportation). Key responsibilities include : supporting patient registration across BCH, cleaning up registration errors via ongoing work queue management, including missed or outdated information (birthdate, address, part of a name, etc.), telephone outreach to patients and patient families, and confirming demographics and adding / updating insurance information. If transitioning to traditional PER float pool role, responsibilities may include : demonstrating positive and effective customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations, patients and families, responding to routine inquiries about hospital protocol, policies and procedures, greeting, screening and directing patients, families and visitors, collecting height, weight and temperature and answering questionnaires in EMR, recording and processing patient demographics, insurance / payment and referral information for all patient encounters, collecting all necessary clinical documentation and information, transcribing code and patient treatment information into a billing system, collecting, recording and securing co-payments made by patients and families, reconciling payments and preparing deposits, obtaining required authorizations, referrals and verifications of insurance to compile patient and staff schedules, scheduling patient encounters and procedures to coordinate with and across providers, departments and institutions, monitoring daily schedule and coordinating flow to optimize resource utilization and patient experience, communicating with clinicians and / or supervisors and routing patients / visitors to maintain efficient patient / visitor flow, answering, screening and routing telephone calls, recording and forwarding messages and triaging calls for urgent information or assistance within scope of knowledge and authority, scheduling meetings, programs and events, maintaining calendars for physicians / supervisors, assisting in organizing and scheduling conferences, seminars and other department-sponsored programs or events, providing routine clerical support as needed, and may collect and organize medical records, information, materials and supplies required for appointments.
Minimum qualifications include education : high-school or GED diploma. Experience : Epic and customer service experience preferred.
