Evening shifts, 12 hours (10 : 45 PM - 11 : 15 PM and / or 2 : 45 PM - 3 : 15 AM)

Job Description

This position provides professional nursing care based on current nursing knowledge through the use of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) standards. Responsibilities include the assessment of patient needs, development of plans of care, implementation of nursing interventions, and evaluation of patient care outcomes across a varied age population from neonates to geriatrics. This role is subject to scheduled on-call assignments as needed, influenced by community event impacts on Emergency Department (ED) patient volumes.

Responsibilities

  • Triage every patient entering the emergency care system, determining priorities of care based on physical and psycho-social needs.
  • Develop and implement a plan of care based on ongoing assessments, ensuring supplies and equipment are readily available and functional.
  • Manage complications and emergencies per medical center policies and ENA standards while recognizing changes in patient health status.
  • Document patient responses to interventions and facilitate competent medical care.
  • Provide health education to patients and families, assisting with accurate information on health status and treatment options.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Current Pennsylvania RN licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications, renewed every two years.
  • Valid National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
