The City of Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Police Officer. The salary range for this position is $61,417.00 - $71,200.00 annually. The duties and responsibilities of this position include enforcing laws, patrolling assigned areas, responding to police service calls, conducting criminal and traffic investigations, preparing written reports, apprehending criminals, and testifying in court. The role requires extensive contact with outside agencies and the general public.
Typical qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, U.S. citizenship or naturalization, being at least 21 years old at the time of graduation from the Raleigh Police Academy, a valid driver's license, and vision corrected to 20 / 20 without being colorblind. Lateral-entry officers are eligible for a starting salary of up to $66,124.00.
Positions in this class typically require physical activities such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Heavy work includes exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work is performed in both field and indoor office environments with moderate exposure to atmospheric and environmental conditions, and frequent exposure to intense noise.
