ICU Registered Nurse - Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift, 3x12 hours (19 : 00 - 07 : 00). Weekend coverage is every other weekend.

Job Description

The Open Heart Intensive Care Unit (OHICU) is a 10-bed ICU providing care to critically ill and postoperative cardiothoracic, cardiovascular, and general surgery patients aged 18 and older. The team will manage invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and care for patients recovering from open heart surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage critically ill patients in a cardiac surgical unit.
  • Conduct invasive hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
  • Provide support for patients recovering from various cardiac procedures.
  • Administer medications, including IV paralytics and sedation.
  • Implement infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams.

    • Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a critical care setting, preferably in a trauma level I facility.
  • Current certifications : ACLS and BLS are required.
  • Experience with Epic charting system is required.
  • Charge nurse experience is preferred.
