Pay Rate : $47.83 / hr on w2
Position Summary :
The client building is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee and enforce safety protocols on active U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) construction sites. The SSHO will ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations—including EM 385-1-1 and OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Enforce compliance with the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and all applicable safety policies.
Conduct daily safety inspections and audits of work areas, equipment, and operational practices.
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures to maintain safety standards.
Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training sessions for all site personnel.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; develop and document corrective and preventive actions.
Maintain accurate safety documentation, including logs, permits, inspection reports, and training records.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and client’s corporate safety policies and procedures.
Coordinate with subcontractors to verify their safety programs and training meet project-specific requirements.
Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for all safety-related matters.
Collaborate with project teams to identify hazards and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related field, or minimum of 5 years EHS experience in construction safety, preferably on federal or large-scale commercial projects.
Certifications :
OSHA 30-Hour Construction (required)
CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician), ASP (Associate Safety Professional), or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) – must obtain within 6 months if not already held
First Aid / CPR
Experience : Construction safety, preferably federal or large commercial projects
Knowledge : Federal, state, and local safety regulations, including EM 385-1-1.
Skills : Communication, leadership, organization, independent decision-making.
Preferred Skills :
Experience working with government contracts and compliance standards (e.g., USACE, NAVFAC).
Bilingual proficiency (English / Spanish) preferred.
