Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a night shift ICU role requiring a current CA RN license and strong critical care background.
Responsibilities
Position is in the ICU and ICU-CV Recovery units within an acute care hospital settingNight shifts with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend coverage or equivalent24-bed ICU with capacity for up to 32 beds and patient ratios of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2Patients include those with respiratory failure, sepsis, AMI, ARDS, GI bleed, CABG, TAVR, Impella devices, vascular and neuro surgeries, and CVAsRequired to float first to MedSurg / Tele units (4E, 4W, 5E, 5W, & 6E)Cerner EMR is used and experience is requiredSpecialized equipment includes Spacelabs telemetry monitoring (24 / 7 monitor techs), pagers with call light system, and spectra link phonesIntensivist on unit from 7am–5pm and on-call after hoursRespiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24 / 7Navy blue scrubs are requiredResponsible for all aspects of ICU nursing care, including managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, conscious sedation, and participation in multidisciplinary roundsCare for a wide variety of critical patients, including cardiac, neuro, and post-surgical casesOrientation includes 2 shifts in the unit and additional orientation for floating across both East and West towersCharge nurse and free resource nurse provide support; charge seldom takes patientsBreaks include one 30-minute break and three 15-minute breaks per shift in accordance with CA lawParticipation in rapid responses as neededNurses are responsible for reading and managing their own telemetry stripsNeuro ICU experience is a plus due to increased neuro casesNo previous direct employment, including PRN, at CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the last yearRequirements
Active and current CA RN license required at time of applicationMinimum of 2 years recent ICU experience requiredCertifications required : ACLS, BLS, and NIHSSExperience with bedside telemetry interpretation necessaryMust be willing and able to float to MedSurg / Tele unitsCerner EMR experience requiredBasic EKG interpretation test required during orientation; advanced testing for critical care RNsTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationNo first-time travelers will be considered for this positionBenefits
