Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a current CA license and strong critical care skills for night shifts.
Responsibilities
Work in the ICU and ICU-CV Recovery units within an acute care hospital setting24-bed ICU (expandable to 32 beds) with patient ratios of 1 : 1 or 1 : 2Care for patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, AMI, ARDS, GI bleed, CABG, TAVR, Impella, vascular surgeries, neuro surgeries, and CVAsNight shift, 12-hour shifts, with every other weekend or four weekend shifts per four week schedule requiredMust be willing to float first to any MedSurg / Tele units (4E, 4W, 5E, 5W, 6E)Uses Cerner EMR and Spacelabs telemetry monitoring equipment; nurses are responsible for their own telemetry strip interpretationIntensivist on unit from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on call after hoursResponsibilities include participation in multidisciplinary rounds and reading / interpreting telemetry stripsOrientation includes two unit shifts plus floating orientation to East and West towersScrub color is navy blue, including jackets and undershirts in navy, white, or black24 / 7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available; dedicated pharmacist on unit weekdays and weekendsNurses must comply with CA break requirements (one 30-min clock-out break and three 15-min breaks per shift)Charge nurse rarely takes patients and assists with rapid responses; no nurse aides or IV team presentHoliday coverage expectations as scheduled by unitCandidates must not have been directly employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past yearRequirements
Active CA RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (no pending certifications accepted)Must pass basic and advanced EKG interpretation tests during orientationExperience with all cardiac and vasoactive drips, conscious sedation, and neuro cases preferredMust provide two professional references, including one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 yearsCopy of driver's license required for considerationNo first-time travelers will be consideredBenefits
