Position Title : Lead Packaging Design Engineer
Compensation : $95,000 - $115,000 (Depending on experience)

Overview
The Lead Packaging Design Engineer will be responsible for developing, testing, and implementing efficient and sustainable packaging systems that ensure product integrity from production to end-user delivery. This role blends engineering precision, sustainability initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration to enhance both product protection and brand experience.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, prototype, and validate new packaging concepts in partnership with R&D, Quality, and Operations teams.
Ensure compliance with domestic and international packaging and shipping standards, including handling of hazardous and lithium battery materials.
Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing packaging costs, materials usage, and environmental impact.
Support process optimization initiatives by identifying opportunities for value engineering and automation.
Evaluate and qualify new suppliers; manage packaging specifications and audit documentation.
Drive sustainability programs through circular packaging designs, recyclable materials, and waste reduction strategies.
Leverage data and performance metrics to monitor packaging effectiveness, shipping damage, and cost trends.
Represent the company at technical conferences and packaging innovation forums to identify emerging trends.
Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and technicians within the packaging team.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in packaging design and testing within consumer goods, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
Strong command of CAD or 3D modeling tools (e.g., ArtiosCAD, SolidWorks) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Demonstrated expertise with corrugated, molded fiber, foam, and printed retail packaging solutions.
Working knowledge of ISTA and ASTM testing standards , lithium battery transport requirements, and sustainability frameworks (FSC, SFI, How2Recycle, etc.).
Familiarity with lean manufacturing and cost-optimization methodologies.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects and collaborate with cross-functional global teams.
Willingness to travel domestically up to 20% for supplier visits, testing, and audits.
