This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 1050 Ribaut Road, Beaufort, SC 29902.

As the Mental Health Professional, you will perform direct clinical services to children, adolescents and their families in the Beaufort County schools and clinical office. Serves as a liaison for Beaufort County schools, DSS, Family Court and other agencies.

Responsibilities for this Mental Health Professional :

  • Provide direct clinical services to children, adolescents and their families in the clinic / school setting. Provide assessments and crisis management, as well as individual, group and family therapy as needed. Ensure documentation of all services provided following established standards.
  • Provide consultation / education activities and case management on behalf of our consumers to community agencies as requested, under the supervision of the C&A Program Supervisors.
  • Participate in weekly team staffings with other mental health professionals, as well as attend and participate in C&A Staffings as scheduled.
  • Provide consultation and assists in coordination of hospital admissions and placement of children and adolescents. Provide follow-up after discharge.
  • Attend department meetings as requested by supervisor.
  • Provide other related duties and limited consultation / educational activities in the community upon request and approval by supervisor.

This position MAY be eligible for SCOMH Student Loan Repayment to cover some of the cost of your outstanding loan(s) balance associated with the completion of a healthcare degree that is relevant to the appliable position.

Coastal Empire CMHC is an approved site of the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), which offers student loan repayment of up to $50,000.00 to employees of NHSC- approved sites. You must be a US Citizen, you must be licensed to practice independently in the state where you are hired and you must have unpaid government or commercial school loans. There is a two-year service commitment required as well. Confirmation of qualifying for this loan repayment program is the responsibility of every applicant - we cannot guarantee your qualification.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • One (1) year experience in a clinical counseling program.
  • Licensed or license eligible.
  • Additional Comments

    Post hire, employees must :

  • Be able to complete Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) certification
  • Have a thorough knowledge of counseling theory, particularly in the field of families, children and adolescents is needed (employee should possess these skills from on-the-job experience and training).
