Banquet Setup Supervisor
The Banquet Setup Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the physical setup, breakdown, and resetting of banquet spaces for meetings, weddings, conventions, and other special events. This role ensures that all function spaces are set according to the Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and in compliance with brand and safety standards, while leading and directing the setup crew efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Setup & Teardown
- Supervise the setup and breakdown of all banquet and meeting rooms.
- Ensure tables, chairs, stages, podiums, dance floors, and AV equipment are correctly placed as per BEOs and floor plans.
- Oversee placement of linens, skirting, signage, and decorations as specified.
- Ensure all setups are completed ahead of event start time.
Staff Leadership
Assign tasks and supervise banquet setup crew.Provide on-the-job training to new or temporary setup staff.Monitor performance, productivity, and adherence to standards.Communicate efficiently with Banquet Captain, Banquet Manager, and other departments.Communication & Coordination
Review daily and weekly BEOs and layout diagrams.Work with Event Services, Housekeeping, Engineering, and AV teams to ensure readiness of event spaces.Report equipment damage, missing inventory, or maintenance issues.Cleanliness & Safety
Ensure cleanliness and organization of storage areas, banquet spaces, and service corridors.Maintain safety standards during setups (lifting techniques, equipment handling).Enforce proper use of equipment and PPE as needed.Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.2+ years in banquet setup, event operations, or hospitality service preferred.Prior supervisory or team lead experience is an advantage.Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and time management skills.Ability to read and interpret floor plans and BEOs.Knowledge of banquet furniture and AV equipment handling.Physically fit able to lift / move heavy items (up to 50 lbs), stand / walk for long hours.Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.Flexible schedule must be available days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
