Description : ASAP start needed.

Interviews will be conducted to assess candidates.

The unit is taking Med Surg patients less frequently as the OB census has been increasing.

Med Surg overflow occurs approximately once every two weeks.

Only alert and oriented patients will be accepted, and telemetry is not required.

The highest number of Med Surg patients in OB at any time is two.

Patient types include low-risk pregnancies as all high-risk patients are transferred out.

The facility utilizes a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) model, where patients stay for the entirety of their care.

Travelers must be comfortable with all phases of care and well baby care.

Conditions encountered may include post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin levels in newborns, NAS, and feeders / growers.

Med Surg overflow patients are of low acuity and require IV antibiotics, swing bed, or rehabilitation.

No infectious patients or telemetry monitoring will be present.

The average patient ratio with Med Surg patients is 1 : 2-3.

The facility has a low volume of deliveries, averaging 200 per year.

The unit follows a rooming-in model, and there is no dedicated nursery; nurses will care for the babies.

Patient ratios follow established guidelines : 1 : 2 for laboring patients, 1 : 1 for active labor, 1 : 3-4 for couplets, and 1 : 2-3 for Med Surg patients.

Support on the unit includes at least two nurses overnight and possibly three at times.

There are no CNAs available.

A Health Unit Coordinator is present four days per week.

Midwives will provide most care, with OBs available as needed.

A charge nurse, phlebotomy, and respiratory therapy services are available 24 / 7.

The charting system used is Cerner.

If floating occurs, tasks will only be assigned in Med Surg or Emergency Department with no patient assignments taken.

Scheduling requires weekend rotation every other weekend.

No on-call requirements are in place.

Holiday scheduling will involve every other holiday.

Time off will require manager approval.

Scrub color must be professional; procedural scrubs will be provided for the operating room only.
