Overview

The NBC News Breaking News Specials team is seeking a skilled Line Producer to help lead the control room during breaking news coverage and support Specials / Nightly News. You’ll work closely with the Senior Producer to ensure all production elements are in place for seamless live broadcasts during major news events.

Responsibilities

Build and manage rundowns, ensuring all segments, graphics, and video elements are ready for air
Coordinate field teams, booking and live remotes during major breaking news
Serve as a primary editorial / control room contact during weekend days
Collaborate with Senior Producers and the Specials team to anticipate resources needed for major-event coverage
Troubleshoot technical or logistical issues in real time to minimize on-air disruptions
Partner with technical, graphics, audio, and talent departments to maintain top-tier production quality
Produce live cut-ins, special segments, and additional content as needed
Backfill Weekend Overnight Breaking News Senior Producer approximately 4-6 weeks a year, as lead editorial watch for breaking news between Nightly and Today

Qualifications

3+ years of line producing or coordinating live broadcast news programming

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving parts under tight deadlines

Excellent communication skills for collaborating across editorial, technical, and talent teams under tight deadlines

Expertise in control-room operations from rundown creation through final sign-off

Excellent editorial judgment with knowledge of NBC News Standards

Proficiency with automated control-room systems and rundown tools—or clear aptitude to learn them quickly

Flexibility for overnight and weekend schedules, including holidays with on-call availability for unplanned breaking-news shifts

Must be willing and able to work in person at 30 Rock Saturday through Wednesday

Additional Requirements

On-site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range : $110,000 - $125,000
