Unit Clerk Job Responsibilities:

1. Manages the patient admission and discharge process for the unit.
2. Uses patient intake and electronic medical records (EMR) software.
3. Schedules and documents inpatient consultations
4. Coordinates ancillary testing and transportation to radiology department
5. Completes discharge process with accurate disposition in Meditech
6. Answers the phone and directs calls
7. Responds and coordinates patient call bells with the Nursing/Ancillary staff
8. Coordinates with EVS and Nursing for patient throughout process
9. Orders new supplies and equipment and oversees the organization of Nursing station.
10. Makes photocopies and faxes documents.
11. Completes other administrative work as needed.
12. Collaborates with medical and administrative staff.
13. Maintains the confidentiality of all patient records.
14. Follows all hospital policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Employee should have advanced customer service skills
• Ability to work on Computer, multi-task and coordinate processes
• Demonstrates time-management, prioritization, and organization skills
• Works calmly and carefully in a fast-paced hospital

Education and Experience Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

At least 2-3 years of medical clerical experience is preferred
