Summary
The King County Department of Local Services (DLS) is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable and Procurement professional and people leader to oversee and strengthen the Road Services Division's accounts payable and contracting operations. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated team responsible for vendor payments, procurement coordination, and contract compliance , ensuring adherence to public sector financial regulations and County policies. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of accounts payable and contracting practices, experience resolving complex issues with internal and external partners , strong leadership and customer service skills, and a commitment to operational excellence and equity in public service.
This position is part of the Roads Budget and Finance team and reports to the Road Services Finance and Administrative Services Manager within the DLS Finance Team. The Accounts Payable Supervisor leads a diverse team responsible for all aspects of accounts payable operations, fosters a positive and customer-focused team culture, and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant services. The role develops policies, strengthens internal controls, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives process improvements using performance data. It also serves as a key liaison with internal partners, including Engineering, Maintenance, the Director's Office, Procurement, and Finance units, and external partners including the Procurement and Payables team in the Finance and Business Operations Division (FBOD). The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong analytical and communication skills, a commitment to equity, and the ability to enhance financial operations in a complex public sector environment.

Applicants who pass the initial screening will be invited to participate in a 15-minute phone interview the week of November 17, 2025 .
If selected to move forward after the phone interview, you will be invited for a virtual interview the week of December 1, 2025 .

Work Schedule : The work week is normally Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m., but may at times require work outside of normal business hours. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Mission Critical - Employees who provide, maintain, and re-establish essential county functions as described in agency Continuity of Operations plans.
Unless otherwise directed by the County Executive, department director or agency head, all employees, regardless of designation, are expected to report to work or request leave during an emergency or inclement weather.

Work Location : The work associated with this position will be performed through a hybrid work schedule of teleworking, onsite work and meetings as needed. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change.
Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. The employee will report to work at King Street Center ( 201 S. Jackson, Seattle, WA 98104 ) and Renton Maintenance Facility ( 155 Monroe Ave NE, Renton, WA 98056 ).
Employees must reside in Washington State and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
