Traveling Electrical Project Manager
Position Overview :
The Traveling Electrical Project Manager oversees multiple electrical construction projects across various locations, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role requires frequent travel to job sites to manage teams, coordinate with general contractors and clients, and maintain project quality standards. The Project Manager provides leadership in planning, procurement, scheduling, installation, and closeout activities for commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projects.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage all phases of electrical construction projects, from pre-construction through project closeout.
Travel to job sites to oversee field operations, ensure quality control, and resolve project issues.
Coordinate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure project objectives are met.
Develop and maintain project schedules, manpower forecasts, and budget tracking reports.
Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Oversee procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
Monitor job cost reports, labor productivity, and financial performance of each project.
Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards.
Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Mentor and support traveling foremen, superintendents, and on-site teams.
Drive accountability and performance across multiple active projects.
Qualifications :
10+ years of experience in the electrical construction industry, including 5+ years in a supervisory or project management role.
Proven experience managing commercial and / or industrial electrical projects up to $10 million.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry standards.
Proficient in project management software (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Willingness to travel extensively (typically 75–100%).
Current Electrical License or Journeyman / Master Electrician certification preferred.
OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or equivalent safety training preferred.
