Project Manager – Heavy Civil / Water & Wastewater

Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid) - Louisville, KY (Travel)

Overview

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee water / wastewater treatment and heavy civil infrastructure projects in the Indianapolis area. This is a hands-on leadership role managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.

The Project Manager will act as a key leader within the organization — responsible for planning, scheduling, execution, financial controls, and team collaboration. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate project teams, ensuring clear vision, goals, and accountability.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, scopes of work, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Collaborate with field teams to monitor project progress and maintain three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Oversee subcontractor and supplier coordination to ensure scope, schedule, and quality compliance.
  • Monitor project costs, prepare monthly cost-to-complete reports, and maintain positive cash flow.
  • Provide solutions for field issues in coordination with engineers, inspectors, and owner representatives.
  • Uphold company and regulatory safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in heavy civil or water / wastewater construction (projects $1M–$20M).
  • Prior field experience as a Foreman or Superintendent is a plus.
  • Estimating experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong budgeting, scheduling, and project execution skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with scheduling / design software (Primavera, AutoCAD, Vista).
