Legal Aid is hiring a Communication & Development Associate, a new role for the organization.
Overview The position supports the organization’s communications and development efforts across donor relations, digital content, and outreach. The role is based in Santa Barbara and may involve countywide work.
Responsibilities Gift Processing and Acknowledgement : Assist with processing donations, prepare and send acknowledgement letters weekly, and maintain accurate donation records.
Database Management : Maintain and update donor information in fundraising databases, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
Fundraising & Event Support : Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events, and prepare fundraising materials such as annual reports, brochures, and e-newsletters.
Website : Update LAFSBC website content in coordination with program leadership and staff to ensure up-to-date information.
Email : Create and manage regular email communications to LAFSBC audiences; help maintain the email marketing calendar with the leadership team.
Social Media : Plan and manage LAFSBC social media accounts with content support from staff; expand reach and engagement across channels.
Media : Prepare periodic press releases for media.
Qualifications Supports the mission of the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County.
Excellent project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Strong writing and communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, MailChimp, donor databases, or similar programs.
Experience with various social media platforms.
Desired Qualifications Language : Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Bachelor's or Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience in nonprofit communications or development.
Familiarity with civil legal aid or the legal community.
Location The position is based in Santa Barbara, CA, with countywide support. Training is in-person; thereafter, a hybrid in-office / work-from-home schedule is expected.
Hours Approximately 20 hours per week (part-time), Monday through Friday. Some evenings or weekends may be required for special events.
Compensation $23 to $28 per hour, depending on experience. Non-exempt.
